Lambeth Palace

King and Queen for a day

What an absolute privilege to be asked to shoot a wedding at Lambeth Palace in London - the home of The Archbishop of Canterbury. We had previously had the honour of shooting the Archbishop’s son’s and then daughter’s wedding back in 2014 and had therefore been to the palace on a number of occasions. Their weddings had both taken place at Canterbury Cathedral however, not at the palace and so being given the opportunity to shoot a wedding there was one of the best experiences we have ever had.

The palace sits in a prominent place, across the river from the houses of Parliament and Big Ben. It’s large private court yard, protected by enormous metre thick, ancient wooden gates leads to the grand entrance and huge staircase that follows. The palace’s opulence and grandeur breathes of great history, from the large, high ceiling stately rooms to the wide corridors lined with enormous paintings of archbishop’s gone by and the beautiful, old but well kept furniture. Outside, the courtyard sweeps round under an archway to the most beautiful gardens behind the house. What a place - a palace fit for a king and queen.

We fell in love with Will and Meg on their engagement shoot in the New Forest. (Will loves his motorbikes and so his Moto Guzzi featured highly in their shoot! Check out our instagram for a few of these pictures. We will blog it later in the year).  And then their wedding…ahhh their wedding! I love a black tie wedding, I love bouquets with soft green foliage, or even just soft green foliage! I’m a sucker for pointed shoes and her dress…. that dress was TO DIE FOR. I really couldn’t stop staring at it all day and all of that in a venue like Lambeth Palace. I mean hi!

Meg and Will are a totally contagious, fun loving couple and they pulled us into their world with total ease and a lovely affection. They made our job not only easy but a lot of fun. We will never forget shooting their wedding at Lambeth Palace. What an honour and an absolute privilege both to shoot there and to get to know them.  Thank you for asking us Meg and Will. You are totally brilliant.
