BEAUTIFUL

Beautiful is one of my favourite words. I think even the way the word looks is beautiful! ha ha. It’s positive and kind and it’s a word that can breathe of life in it’s fullness. I love it because of it’s depth. To say something is beautiful could mean a myriad of different things.

In my humble opinion, this wedding was beautiful. Ursula and Andrew are not only beautiful to look at, their taste is exquisite. The wedding ooozed of elegance and style. It showed care and attention to detail. But it wasn’t just beautiful because of the way it looked - which lies of course in the eye of the beholder, the beauty also lay within: underneath, in the layers of the wedding….

We saw beauty in connection. We saw it in the lines of peoples faces as they laughed and reminisced. We saw beauty in the pause and the unsaid and in the relationships built around and through Andrew and Ursula.

And I also saw it in the people I met and talked to. On this day, I met Lauren and Jo and Kim. Lauren is a beautiful wedding photographer in her own right and there that day as a guest. She reminded me of where there is beauty in my life with Tom. She showed beauty in vulnerability and humility. And Jo, the wedding planner. As we sat in the kitchen below, we chatted about life and experience. There was beauty in a knowing connection we made that day. And Kim. As she carried her beautiful baby bump around all day, I was reminded about how beautiful innocence and new life is.

The word beautiful means so much. The next time you say something is beautiful, pause and think about what you mean. The word is not a simple one. It is full of meaning and depth and layers. I love it.

Andrew and Ursula, you are beautiful…in so many ways. Thank you for sharing your day with us and for allowing us to capture it all.
