Fields of Gold
Gold. A colour, a noun and a metaphor. A poetic and lyrical word.
There are some songs, some absolute classics, that I absolutely love and will always love. Fields of Gold by Sting, released in 1993 is one of them. I don’t know about you, but I have never, until just now, read the lyrics without singing along and being distracted by the tune. They captivate me and talk about a beautiful relationship - a life long journey. I have written them out below just in case you want to read them too. I think I want to put them up in my house!
I often use the word ‘gold’ as an adjective or a metaphor. I describe someone as gold, meaning they are pretty special; a rare find. It’s a word that has so much meaning.
Tom and Caro’s wedding was laced in gold. I love it as a colour and as a meaning. And I truly loved it throughout their wedding. Caro pretty much designed the wedding herself and clearly, like me, loves gold. This girl has style and she did an incredible job. The detail was utterly stunning and we would have blogged this wedding for the detail alone - just to inspire future brides!
But it wasn’t in just the detail; we saw gold as we took a few photos in the fields in the evening; we saw it the people - in there lovely family and friends there too and we saw it in Tom and Caro and their relationship.
Tom, a pilot, (who flew them away to France on their honeymoon!) and a yacht broker and Caro, a Product Manager for a pharmaceutical company make a gorgeous, truly lovely, kind, hospitable and very caring couple. It was a true pleasure to get to know them and participate in their day by helping them remember it all.
Tom and Caro, you walked in fields of gold as the song describes on your wedding day and we know you will continue to as you journey through life together.
Thank you for choosing us to shoot your day. We absolutely loved it. xx
Fields of Gold by Sting
You'll remember me when the west wind moves upon the fields of barley
You'll forget the sun in his jealous sky as we walk in fields of gold
So she took her love for to gaze awhile upon the fields of barley
In his arms she fell as her hair came down among the fields of gold
Will you stay with me, will you be my love among the fields of barley?
We'll forget the sun in his jealous sky as we lie in fields of gold
See the west wind move like a lover so upon the fields of barley.
Feel her body rise when you kiss her mouth among the fields of gold
I never made promises lightly and there have been some that I've broken
But I swear in the days still left we'll walk in fields of gold
We'll walk in fields of gold
Many years have passed since those summer days among the fields of barley
See the children run as the sun goes down among the fields of gold
You'll remember me when the west wind moves upon the fields of barley
You can tell the sun in his jealous sky when we walked in fields of gold
When we walked in fields of gold, when we walked in fields of gold
